If you find yourself needing to boot your MacBook Pro from a CD, you can do so by using a startup key combination to tell your MacBook Pro to look for and boot from a CD in the drive. This is usually done when you need to install a fresh copy of the Mac OS on a fresh hard drive, or, if your computer is not working, it can be used to reinstall your operating system.
1.
Insert the bootable CD into the CD drive of your MacBook Pro while it is on.
3.
Press the Power button on your Macbook Pro to turn it back on while holding down the 'C' key on your keyboard.
4.
Release the 'C' key once the CD begins whirring in the drive.
